Rise Up’s School Donation Program

Posted on: April 16, 2017 by Fred

In Nicaragua many children are not able to go to school, because they need to work to support their families. And because school is not a certainty for every child in Nicaragua, we would love to support the children and ask your help!

Even though most of us will take education for children for granted back home, this is not as self-evident in Nicaragua. Elementary education is free and compulsory for all Nicaraguans, however this is not strictly enforced. The amount of children attending primary school is increasing, but unfortunately the amount of children going to secondary school or university is still on a low level.

In our area we have a number of local pre-schools and primary schools. We give back principally by giving donations of items that the schools are in need of such pre-loved clothing, sporting equipment and of course school supplies.

This year we have decided to formalise our donation process a little by focus on donating two of the pre-schools in our area in the poorest communities and then the local primary school. We collect items and then every other month organise them and make sure they are distributed to the students and schools in the most need.

Do you want to help us in our program and would you love to support the children in the area?

We invite all our future guests to bring anything they can. During our last visit to the schools, we came up with a wish list focused on their particular requirements that we believe would be easy for our guests to bring down.

The smaller items/projects

However smaller items can also include a monetary donation as many thing can be bought locally or can go towards the funding of larger projects which we aim to do during the next summer vacation at the end of 2017.

The larger projects (total costs are about $2500 US):

We would like to thank all the  guests, who helped supporting the schools! Would you like to donate or help us the next time you come up here? That would be amazing! Because doing good to others is not a duty, it is a joy, for it increases our own health and happiness.

So do good and good will come to you!
