Some of Our surf breaks
One of Nicaragua’s heaviest and most hollow beach breaks, “The Boom” is only a 10-minute walk away form the Rise Up Surf guesthouse.
Out Front/ Down Below
Just down the hillside from our guesthouse or “out front”, you will find a beautiful bay with sweet, mellow waves, perfect for beginners.
This beginner-friendly spot has easy-going, good, green-face waves to learn on. It is just a few minutes walk along the beach from our property.
This “rippable” left-hand point break is just 10-minutes away by boat.
A short drive from our property, this spectacular bay picks up a lot of swell and offers right and left hand breaks, which suit all levels.
These punchy sand bars are a 30-minutes drive away. Both inside and outside sand bars offer great waves for every level.
“Fantastic family vacation!“
We traveled to Rise Up over Christmas break 2018. We are a family of 6 with 4 daughters ranging from 10 to 17 years old. Only one of us (our dad) had surfed before so we were a bit daunted making a trek this far and not knowing how everyone would do. Upon arrival at Rise Up we were greeted by several staff members and invited to enjoy the beautiful sunset. From those first moments through the 7 days of our stay, our family had an absolute blast! On the first day, all rookie surfers were catching waves and getting to their feet with the support and coaching of the wonderful instructors. For our more experienced surfer there was a selection of beaches and breaks nearby that were appropriately challenging, changing with the swell and tide conditions over the course of the week. Along with the coaching in the water, there were video sessions to individually review progress with each member of the family. This was extremely helpful to better understand ways to improve surfing technique, wave selection and paddling. Surfing was definitely the core of our vacation but we also thoroughly enjoyed other activities offered at Rise Up including daily yoga, the boat trip to the estuary and the volcano boarding excursion. Lastly, the food was tremendous. Three in our family eat a vegan diet which was easily accommodated by Charlotte and the kitchen staff. The variety of the food and the way it was presented made for a special treat at every meal. The overall welcoming and easy-going vibe of the place, our fellow guests, Corina and Phil plus the entire staff made this an unforgettable adventure and experience for our family. We are already planning our next trip to Rise Up to renew friendships, improve our surfing and enjoy more time in such a special place.
“Best vacation I ever had“
We just finished our stay with the amazing people at Rise Up Surf and I can’t say enough good things about this place. Because of the recent “situation” in Nicaragua as portrayed by the media we were a little unsure at first about doing this trip but I’m glad we ignored the media and came to Nicaragua anyway. I don’t claim to know what the truth is about all that but I do now that there is much untruth. In any event, what a beautiful country, and the businesses have unfortunately suffered because of the tourists that have been scared away. Do yourself a favor and come to Nicaragua and especially Rise Up Surf. My wife and I had never surfed before and by the end of the week we were surfers. The instructors find the right beaches and waves for your abilities, videotape you so they can show you how to improve, and are so positive and helpful. Then there’s yoga to stretch those tired muscles, 3 meals (at least) a day, many other activities, a sub-zero fridge full of cervezas, a fantastic bartender, and new friends from around the world. I could go on and on, but I just want to say thank you so much to Corina, Phillip, and the whole crew. We can’t wait to come back!

“My happy place! Amazing camp, people, surf and food”
Rise Up is absolutely amazing! There is everything you need, as a guest you don’t have to think about anything, can completely switch off. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and bathrooms are also nice (even the cold showers are totally fine what I did not expect). I like that rooms get cleaned more than once a day.
The surf instructors do a great job. They are motivated and love seeing people progressing. I especially liked the video analysis but also theory classes were very helpful and should not be missed. There is a wide choice of different surf boards and the instructors always find a suitable board for you.
I also liked the excursions/activities. The boat trip was my favourite.
Food was great! And there are 5 meals/day, so also people who are always hungry like me will be happy.
All staff is extremely friendly, from transfer, housekeeping, management…
As a guest of Rise Up Camp you really feel being part of a family. Thank you for this wonderful time I got to spend with you!

“You will leave with a full heart <3″
I love traveling but I have always loved my home more than anywhere I’ve ever been… until now. This was hands down the best vacation of my life. I know this because instead of being so excited to get home and sleep in my own bed, I cried as I hugged everyone goodbye. It was that magical of a week. If you want to learn to surf, I mean really LEARN, Rise Up Surf Camp is your place. And if you are a yogi who wants to learn how to surf, you will cry as you hug everyone goodbye.
“Fantastic surf and yoga combo”
This is about as all-inclusive as a surf camp gets. Transportation, food and drinks, yoga and surfing without any need to pay for anything else except tips for the staff. Chinandega is relatively remote and there aren’t a lot of shopping options if that’s your thing the weekly Leon tour or staying there before or after is your best bet. No internet at the resort but it’s very cheap to buy at the airport directly from the Claro or Movistar dealer. Coverage at the resort is good but ask the owners which one to use as this can change – it’s very cheap 8 days and 1G cost $10usd – much better than roaming. The surf is great and totally uncrowned. The beginner lessons are excellent and way better than any others I have seen to get you started surfing with a very fun and supportive atmosphere. While the general age is 25+/- 5 years there are people in their 50-60s as well
