Surf & Adventure with Kirra Seale + Sarah Lee
Making memories, exploring nature, enjoying different kinds of people, and having fun is what this experience is all about.
It doesn’t matter your age, shape, size, or skill level—everyone is welcome to join us. We invite mothers, daughters, brothers, sisters, friends, and solo-adventurers looking for good vibes and good times. No surf experience is required.
Whether it’s jumping into the ocean, hiking to jungle mountaintops, or horseback riding to remote areas, you’re ready to go—and we are excited to journey there with you.
Where are we surfing?
Take in the lush vistas of the rainforest and hear the howler monkey calls while catching the most uncrowded waves in Costa Rica. The Osa Peninsula holds possibly the highest natural diversity in the world, making it one of the most unique surf spots in Costa Rica. Since the breaks are inside the gulf, the turquoise blue waves are consistently glassy, mellow and perfect for long-boarding. Get ready to surf with more macaws flying around you than people in the line up. Surfing in the Osa Peninsula is perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers, but there is something for everyone!
Whether you’re new to yoga, practice daily, or love meditation, you’ll quickly fall into rhythm overlooking the stunning blue waters where the jungle meets the sea. Nestled in the canopy of a second-story yoga deck is where you’ll reset and find balance in between your surf sessions. Yoga is offered daily by highly experienced teachers who tailor classes to the needs of the group—the perfect compliment to surfing and a way to connect with yourself and feel your best.
Tune into nature where National Geographic describes as “the most biologically intense place on earth.” The Osa Peninsula is itself home to half of all the species in Costa Rica and 2.5% of the world’s total biodiversity, so of course, we’re taking you on some extraordinary adventures.
- Hike through the tropical rainforest to a local waterfall and onwards to incredible jungle mountain tops
- Horseback ride to a remote region of indigenous communities
- Go wildlife spotting and bird watching in the pristine rainforest around the lodge
- Depending on time of year we climb to the top of the rainforest canopy or go on a boat trip in the gulf to look for humpback whales, dolphins and snorkel some beautiful remote reefs.
Our food philosophy at Rise Up is centered around fueling your body properly for the week using fresh and local ingredients. We include 3 healthy meals a day, plus snacks and dessert! You will surely head home feeling happy and healthy.
At Rise Up, you are treated like family from the moment you arrive in Costa Rica. The week is designed to make you feel at home, connect with yourself, and with other amazing people. The Rise Up Familia—our guests and staff—come from all different backgrounds and walks of life and can’t wait to share an amazing week with you!
Our eco-friendly retreat in Costa Rica is located on the edge of a virgin rainforest, nestled between the mountains and shore. All sorts of monkeys, toucans and scarlet macaws are seen from the lodge and yoga deck regularly. As the only lodge on the beach, we consider it one of the most remote surf retreats in Costa Rica. To top it off, we are only a two minute minute walk to a perfect right hand point break so dreamy you might just want to stay forever.
“The Rise Up Surf Retreat was seriously the best surf camp I have ever been to. The resort is beautiful and the staff is amazing. I enjoyed every single minute of my stay and didn't want to leave at the end of the week. Because of my surf coach, my surf has improved so much during the week like never before. They take your level of surf and goals really serious and always find the right spot and waves for you. I have never felt more comfortable in the water. Not to forget the great yoga and the most amazing food. Rise Up is all about really really good service. I'm still stoked and super grateful for all the experiences I enjoyed with Rise Up! Go and get your space, i'm 100% sure you'll not regret it”BillySolo Travaler
"Rise up is incredibly special. They’ve got the surf and yoga retreat concept completely dialled. Always great people, good vibes and fun surf. Once you get off your plane in Managua, Rise up takes over from there and provides a top notch experience. Can’t say enough good things about this company. They get it....and if you didn’t before, by the time you leave a Rise Up retreat, you get it too."NicolaSolo Traveler
"I didn’t want to write this review. Because over the last six years, Rise Up was my little secret. So it is with great hesitancy that I say go to Rise Up, it is simply the best surf camp experience you can have. Just try not to go when I’m there, I still kind of want it to myself.”KevinTraveled with friends
“From the moment they pick you up at the airport till the morning you leave, the staff and ownership are committed to making sure your stay is perfect. The waves and coaches are amazing and the food is delicious. The accommodations are clean, comfortable and overlook a beautiful beach where we surfed each night at sunset. I can’t imagine a more complete surf retreat. Daily yoga overlooking the ocean and mid day relaxation time perfectly balance out the hours of surfing each day. Volcano boarding, horseback riding, and the estuary trip are so much fun. I’m a self taught surfer and I’ve always wanted coaching to take my surf to the next level, so between the high quality surf coaching and the other details, this is any surfers dream vacation. My fiancé and I just booked our return trip!”JulieTraveled with partner
"This was the best vacation my husband and I have ever taken. It was relaxing; Rise Up took care of everything from the schedule to the food to the surfboards. It was fun; surfing every day has got to be the best thing you can do for your mental and physical health, and the extra trips like volcano boarding and the boat trip were a really fun time to hang out with everyone on the trip. It was an accomplishment; I came in hoping to learn to catch my own waves for the first time, and my coach, Melky, made sure that happened while still having fun! If you want to visit Central America, learn to surf, and also give back—this is the absolute best thing you could do."AnnaTraveled with partner
